For about a month now the older children have been keen to line up and get back into class quickly after lunc, which is unusual, to say the least. "What is going on?" we all thought. Then it hit us - Accelerated English! The first 25 minutes after lunch each day is Accelerated English time; the children can read their books quietly, they can take a quiz on the computer or iPad and see how many points they got, then they go to the new school library to select their next book for their next quiz. They are working towards their target of points before December and, if they reach their target, we have a nice surprise in store for them. Lots of children have already reached their targets for this term, but Sara in Rang 7 needs a special mention as she blitzed her termly target within a couple of days - she truly is a Reading Machine!!! Special thanks to the girls and boys in P6 (and some of the P4 pupils) for helping with the setting-up of the library and for the P7 Prefects for helping with keeping it running smoothly, even when the Librarian (Conor) is running a bit late.
