Long, long ago, during the Penal Days, Irish schools were prohibited and masses banned. These had to be organised in secret and became known as Hedge Schools. In the same vein, mass was outlawed and these too had to be done in secret, they became known as Rock Masses as a large rock was often used for the altor. While things have moved on in Ireland since those days, with the good weather and the need to maintain class bubbles, we have had a few outdoor practices this week for Confirmation - but don't worry, the main event will take place indoors with each child allowed to be accompanied by 6 adults!!
